Common questions

Are my audio files uploaded?
No. The converter loads an audio engine into your browser and does the work on your device — your files are never sent to a server. Handy for voice notes, interviews and anything private.
Why is the first conversion slow to start?
The first time you convert, your browser downloads the audio engine (about 30 MB, once). After that it’s cached, so the next conversions start straight away.
Which format should I choose?
MP3 plays everywhere and is small — the safe default. M4A is a touch better quality at the same size. WAV is uncompressed, for editing or archiving.
How do I make a file smaller?
Convert to MP3, M4A or OGG and pick a lower bitrate. 128 kbps roughly halves a typical 256 kbps file with little audible difference for speech.
